Conservation First Framework, Project Completion Timelines - Third Extension (December 14, 2021) 

The IESO received a Ministerial directive dated December 9, 2021, that enables LDCs to further extend timelines for the completion of certain projects under the Conservation First Framework (CFF) to August 31, 2022. The directive also provides  for the completion deadline to be further extended to December 31, 2022, if certain conditions are met as defined in the directive.

The additional extensions provided for in this directive are intended to offset the disruptions that continue to be caused by COVID-19 and to provide stability for participants and those businesses involved in delivering conservation and demand management programs.  

Program participants in the following CFF programs may be eligible for an extension:

  • Retrofit Program
  • Process and Systems Upgrade Program
  • High Performance New Construction Program.

Previous Updates (September 30, 2020)

New Directive for 2021-2024 CDM Framework

The IESO received a Ministerial directive on September 30, 2020, to implement a new 2021-2024 Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) launching the week of January 4, 2021. The new framework will be centrally-delivered by the IESO under the Save on Energy brand and will include incentive programs targeted to those who need them most, including opportunities for commercial, industrial, institutional, on-reserve First Nations, and income-eligible electricity consumers.

Previous Conservation Framework (Conservation First 2016 - 2020)

The Government of Ontario has made changes to the Conservation and Demand Management Programs in Ontario. Effective April 1, 2019, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) will be responsible for centrally delivering and administering conservation programming in the Province until December 31, 2020.

Entegrus has taken pride in delivering conservation programs to its customers since 2007, and has achieved impressive results in helping customers manage their energy use.

The IESO will continue to deliver resources to assist customers manage their energy usage. For further information on programs & changes visit Save on Energy.

Projects Currently Underway

Entegrus will continue to support customers who have existing applications that have already received pre-approval from Entegrus under the Retrofit, PSU, or Audit Funding programs. These projects must be completed by December 31, 2020.

*Due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines has directed the IESO to extend the Conservation First Framework's wind down period by 6-months to June 30, 2021.  Therefore if any customer has a project that was pre-approved through Entegrus as of March 31st, 2019 or before all projects must be declared in service by June 30, December 31, 2021.
